New mom gift ideas
December 1, 2008
Looking for the perfect gift for that special new-mom in your life? Find out some unique gift ideas here.
After taking care of the newborn baby 24/7, one gift every new mom will appreciate is some R&R. A spa package will go a long way in making her feel pampered and revived. If a spa package is a bit too expensive this time of year, consider a gift certificate for a manicure/pedicure.
If the spa day is out of the question, buy her some special bath soaps, lotions and candles so she can create her own spa at home. Just make sure you also offer to take care of the baby so she has a couple of hours of uninterrupted relaxation.
Why not gift that special mom in your life with some mommy bling? What is mommy bling, you ask? It is a piece of jewelery — a ring, necklace or bracelet — that is engraved with your child’s name and/or birthdate or a picture. This is truly a gift every new mom will always treasure.

How Poppy Montgomery lost the baby weight
November 24, 2008
How did actress Poppy Montgomery lose the 70 pounds of baby weight she put on while pregnant in only 10 months?
The Without a Trace actress told People that she had fun eating for two while pregnant with her son, Jackson. “I loved every second of putting on the weight and I don’t regret it. But wearing that bikini again felt great!”
The actress reportedly lost the weight by working out six days a week to a home DVD, P9OX. “It took a lot of work,” she says. Working out a home is a great way to get in shape and lose the baby weight. You can squeeze in workouts while the baby is napping.
Like many celebrities, she also used the meal-delivery service Sunfare. This would definitely be the easy way to ensure you were eating healthy food, but you could also fix healthy meals and control your portions. Another great option to control portions and lose the baby weight is through a Weight
Watchers program.

Postpartum dilemma solved: Party dress
November 15, 2008
You have found a trustworthy babysitter for your first night out without baby, but are you still searching for that perfect party dress that will flatter your postpartum curves?
Search out dresses that draw the eye up to your beautiful face, smooth shoulders and post-baby cleavage while drawing the eye away from the problem areas — the midsection.
Look for dresses with flowing material that gently skims your curves, instead of that skin-tight dress that will show every bulge.
The Silk Halter Dress ($150) from Banana Republic would be the ideal postpartum cocktail dress. The bright fuchsia color is festive, while the details of the dress will highlight your best features while downplaying those post-baby trouble spots.
Postpartum fall essentials

Your pre-pregnancy clothes don’t fit yet and the last thing you want to do is wear your maternity clothes. What can you do?
Re-visit your early pregnancy clothes: Those clothes that helped conceal your bump early in pregnancy are perfect for concealing your post-partum tummy. Wear shirts with a gathered hem and eye-catching neckline. Pull out your Bella Band and use that to layer over longer tops until your stomach shrinks and your jeans fit.
Under-the-belly jeans: Trust me, the last thing you will want to wear is anything with a panel. Pull out those under-the-belly jeans, pants and skirts. They will fit you better than your pre-pregnancy clothes, and you won’t feel like you are wearing maternity clothes.
Shapewear: What was once called a girdle, now has a more appealing name — shapewear. Everyone from Brooke Burke (who sells her own brand of Tauts shapewear) to Gwyneth Paltrow has admitted to wearing shapewear to help smooth out those post-partum bumps.
Outerwear: Find a jacket that will flatter your new-mom curves. Pictured is the Pinned Wrap Cardigan from Gap.com. This stylish jacket will conceal your postpartum belly while the eye-catching neckline draws your eye up.

How to look stylish as a new mom
November 8, 2008
Now that you are a new-mom (or well on your way to becoming one) you may have to pack away your dry- clean-only pants and silk blouses for clothes that are more kid-friendly. Find out what to wear that will take you from mommy & me playdates to the playground in style.
As new-mom Nicole Richie so aptly put it: “I have to wear things that can be spit up on!” What covers spit up? Printed cotton tops and colorful dresses are two great additons to your new-mom wardrobe. Speaking from experience, spit-up really shows up on black tops so them at home until your baby is past that stage.
You will be bending over frequently to get him in/out of the stroller and car seat, so wear a top that you don’t have to worry about gaping open revealing your bra underneath. Layering a tight black tank underneath your shirt is a great way to give you some coverage.
Forget about wearing short skirts — you need to wear clothes that you can sit on the floor in comfortable. Opt for cropped pants, long skirts or comfortable jeans.
