February 26, 2008

Leave it to Jennifer Lopez to carry a diaper bag that features Italian leather and a snake skin trim. Lopez, who gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl, last week will be carrying a beautiful Adrienne diaper bag in Sand ($1,250) available at Petit Tresor.

This bag features Italian Barolo leather with the snake skin trim on the outside, and a removeable inside lining for easy clean-up. The zip-in and zip-out lining even features an additional insert for carrying your computer!

Other mommy-friendly features include mulitple pockets to help keep you organized, a keychain holder, diaper holder and zippered pockets. The straps are detacheable so you can hang it around your stroller, and it includes a washable changing pad.

You will be the talk of the playgroup in this beautiful bag!

Bed Rest Fashions: Cute and cozy loungewear

February 26, 2008

gauchos.jpg
Being on bedrest does not mean you are sentenced to wearing your oversized pj’s or worn-out t-shirts. In fact, you will feel better if you spend that time in clothes that are comfortable and stylish.

A velour track suit, such as the Juicy Maternity Tracksuit, is great because it allows you to lounge in style. The pants are non-constricting and the hoodie is lightweight. Layer a Cami underneath so you can remove the hoodie to allow for the inevitable pregnancy-induced hot flashes.

Gauchos are also a bed-rest wardrobe essential because they feel like pajamas but don’t look like pajamas. Pair them with a cute cotton tank for a lovely loungewear look. Pictured is the Maternity Shirred Roll-Panel Gauchos ($16.50) available at Old Navy.

If pants seem too constricting, consider throwing on a soft jersey skirt. Look for a stretchy waistband or a skirt that is specifically labeled “maternity” to allow plenty of room for your growing belly. The Maternity Flared Knit Skirt ($16.50) from Old Navy is a great style and a great buy.

A light-weight sundress can also be comfortable bedrest wear and may help perk you up when the days feel long. Look for a bright, colorful dress made that is soft and long enough so you don’t feel too exposed.

If you have been or currently are on bedrest, what clothes do you recommend that are comfortable, yet attractive?

Giada De Laurentiis: Healthy Cravings

February 25, 2008

giada-pregnant1.JPG
Everyday Italian star Giada De Laurentiis, 37, recently spoke to People magazine about how she feels about her changing pregnant body and, of course, food cravings. The Food Network star is expecting her first child, a girl, in April with her husband Todd Thompson.

“I couldn’t be more excited about being pregnant,” she says at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival on Feb. 23rd. “She can’t get here soon enough. I can’t wait to meet her.”

Is Giada holding true to her roots and craving Italian food? “I used to crave sweets before I got pregnant,” she confesses. “You know, chocolate, cookies, cake. I’ve normally got a really big sweet tooth, but not now this baby just wants meat. I always want steak—lots of steak!”

The mom-to-be says she does not want to gain too much weight, but is enjoying a sensible diet. “You know, I think this is the time to indulge myself. It’s such a wonderful time, so I’m eating what I want.”

Forget about sitting down to three large meals, Giada focuses on eating frequent, small meals. “I eat a lot of little meals, which is what you’re supposed to do when you’re pregnant. It’s healthier, anyway.”

Jennifer Lopez nursery details

February 25, 2008

chelsea-crib.jpg
New-mom Jennifer Lopez has spared no expense in decorating the nursery for her newborn twins (one boy, one girl). The singer enlisted the help of celebrity-favorite boutique Petit Tresor in designing her elaborate nursery.

The twins will fall asleep in the Chelsea Sleigh Crib ($1,390). The hand rubbed carvings and light distressing make this Victorian crib a celebrity favorite.

Lopez picked up two Glam Gliders ($1,420 each) so she and her hubby Marc Anthony (or their nannies) can rock the babies back to sleep. The modern chair features 360 degree swivel and extra deep seats for ultra-comfort.

JLo’s twin tots will get their pampered diaper changes on the Clara Changing Table ($1,780). This European cottage-inspired changer features appliques of bows and lowers and molded edges.

Oscar maternity fashions: Cate, Nicole and Jessica

February 25, 2008

Forget about floor-length gowns, brightly colored frocks or massive jewels, the real fashion trend of the 2008 Academy Awards was a beautiful baby bump.

Cate Blanchett, who was nominated for best actress and best supporting actress, dressed her bump in a sapphire blue Dries Van Noten gown. The empire-waist gown framed her bump beautifully, and the elaborate Lorraine Schwartz necklace gave her a dramatic Oscar-worthy look.

It was hard to notice Nicole Kidman’s growing bump for all the diamonds (7,645 to be exact) draped around her neck. The actress, who is 5 months pregnant, wore a black Balenciaga gown with an 1,399-caret diamond necklace.

Actress Jessica Alba chose an aubergine silk chiffon draped Marchesa gown. The flowing gown featured a flower cascade and was accessorized by $175,000 worth of Cartier jewels and Jimmy Choo Shoes.

Who do you think was the best-dressed pregnant celebrity of the night? I loved the color and the beautiful details of Jessica Alba’s Marchesa gown.

Morning sickness? What to wear

February 24, 2008

gap-dress.jpg
How can you look like a stylish mom-to-be, when all you want to do is crawl back into bed and put your head under the covers until the fatigue and nausea of early pregnancy goes away? What you need is a couple of no-fuss outfits that look good, but are also comfortable.

Dresses are great because you pull it on, throw on some shoes and you are dressed! There is something to be said for not having to coordinate a top with a bottom! Look for material that is ultra-soft and flows easily over your newly-pregnant body. Pictured is the Empire Dress with Ribbon Tie ($54) from Gap.

Unlike jeans that often feel constricting when you are not feeling well, a skirt with a stretchy waistband always looks stylish and always feels comfortable. Pair a loose, solid-colored skirt with a simple top and throw on a chunky necklace to brighten up your face.

If you are looking for something to cover your legs, look for a pair of soft khakis that are cute, yet comfortable. The Demi Panel Tie-Waist Khakis ($59.50) from Gap have a great fit.

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves

February 24, 2008

matthew-mccon-camilla-alves.JPG
Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend, model Camila Alves, are expecting their first child together this summer. His Fool’s Gold co-star, Kate Hudson, recently said in an interview with Matthew that she thinks the former Sexiest Man Alive will be “an incredible dad.”

“I think because people see Matthew always out doing something whether [it's] out dancing in a bar or being on the beach or taking a hike with some crazy bandana on, I think that, like anything, they take their image and what they want somebody else to be and then they just run with that,” she says. Matthew quickly jumps in saying, “Make no doubt about it. My kid will dance. He will be on the beach and he will be taking hikes with a wild bandana on. He might not dance like I do. Regardless, he or she is still going to have a little rhythm” Hmm…He sure is saying “he” a lot—could they be expecting a boy this summer?

Matthew is seen here with Camila (she is 3-4 months pregnant in this photo) at the Fool’s Gold Premiere in Hollywood on January 30th.

Kim Raver: What new moms should know

February 23, 2008

kim-raver1.JPG
Lipstick Jungle actress Kim Raver, 38, opens up to Redbook magazine about what she has learned about motherhood since being a parent to 4-month-old Leo and 5-year-old Luke.

One piece of advice that Raver talks about (and I think that every mom-to-be should know) is that it does get easier!

“The whole week after you give birth is so intense: You’re recuperating and nursing, and you’re exhausted. But it’s kind of like, Oh, my God – for me at least – and, not to sound all weird or profound, but it’s kind of, That’s why I’m on this planet! But I also remember being so tired with my first one and thinking, Is the rest of my life going to be like this? With Leo, it’s gotten incrementally easier. I’ve started being okay with the sleepless nights because I know I won’t be nursing every two hours for the rest of my life. And my husband and I are so much more relaxed as parents. Whereas whenever Luke cried, I was in complete angst and stomach turning, Oh, my God, what’s not right? What’s happening? I remember Luke getting a cold when he was a few weeks old, and I was a basket case. And then recently Leo got a cold – and he got a cold. With Luke, I was so worried about every little thing. With Leo, who I hear crying in the other room right now, I’m like, ‘Okay, let’s solve the problem…. What is it?’”

What advice would you give to new moms? My fashion advice for new-moms would be to buy a couple of new shirts (NOT maternity) that fit well and make you feel good. You will not be able to fit into your pre-pregnancy clothes and you will be tired of all your maternity clothes.
